The main objective of the neurorehabilitation our team provides is to reintroduce function after an injury of the nervous tissue due, for example, to stroke, peripheral nerve injury, spinal cord injury, or Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>

Correctly carried out rehabilitation makes use of the nervous tissue capacity to regenerate, as well as the brain\u2019s plasticity. During a therapeutic session, an experienced therapist stimulates the nervous system to motivate it to recreate lost connections and create new ones. Rehabilitation of neurological patients is usually very long and tedious. But our team of specialists teaches patients how to deal with a disability daily. They do it by showing patients other strategies they can use to compensate for the inability to perform particular tasks. The patient may therefore function relatively comfortably on a daily basis. This approach should also help prevent the formation of abnormal reflexes, which often impede or even inhibit the patient\u2019s ability to recover altogether. Each therapeutic programme is personalized. When preparing a plan, we always take into consideration the patient\u2019s overall condition and potential.<\/p>

We treat patients with limited cognitive functions and use multisensory stimulation \u2013 body schema, the sense of temperature, vibration, touch, and positioning.<\/p>

Treatment of dysphagia improves oral hygiene, regulates sensation within the orofacial tract, and aims to reduce the patient’s dependency on a tracheostomy tube and teach him\/her to breathe physiologically. Gradually, we switch to oral feeding and stimulate the mouth with different tastes. This method is based on motivating patients to strengthen the affected site by using the more functional and healthy areas of the body. This approach that we use in our clinic in Wroc\u0142aw helps our patients build more muscle strength, improve movement coordination, re-educate gait, and improve stand-to-sit transfer and turning. The name of the therapy comes from Mr. and Mrs. Bobath. Mr. Bobath was a psychiatrist, and Mrs. Bobath was a physiotherapist. They developed a method of treating postural and locomotion deficits with a set of specially designed exercises. As a neurorehabilitation method, NDT is addressed specifically to infants and children with developmental central nervous system dysfunctions and plegia. Soft tissue therapy acc. to Dr Ciechomski is described as the \u2018modern method of treating and diagnosing soft tissues\u2019 and is addressed to adults. As a neurorehabilitation and physiotherapy modality, it uses techniques such as: muscle energy technique (MET), musculofascial relaxation and rebalancing, active relaxation, classic and extended trigger point therapy. The therapies taught and promoted by Dr Maciej Krawczyk are addressed to patients following a stroke or brain injury or suffering from other central nervous system dysfunctions. The method developed by Robin McKenzie was addressed originally to patients with spinal dysfunctions and pain, but is now also used in medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy of upper and lower limbs, sciatica or brachialgia. MDT uses a thorough diagnosis of the patient\u2019s condition and the examination of the dysfunction and the site of pain. On that basis, the patient receives a set of specific exercises to perform initially under the specialist\u2019s supervision in our clinic in Wroc\u0142aw, and then at home. This is a manual therapy developed by a physiotherapist Luigi Stecco. It focuses on the anatomy of musculoskeletal fascia. The therapist manipulates the fascia by pressing specific points on the fascia, which are responsible for muscle movement or even mechanical reactions of the nervous system. A thorough diagnosis of painful sites and movement dysfunctions may lead to the areas within the fascia where these points are located. This modality is addressed to adult patients and directly influences the nerve supply in a given area of the body. The neurorehabilitation acc. to Butler acts upon the nerves by tightening or stretching them to reduce or eliminate any dysfunctions related to the gliding of the nervous tissue against other tissues. Speech therapy is addressed specifically to neurological patients with various communication dysfunctions. In our clinic, we offer physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation to stroke or intellectually disabled adult patients who suffer from aphasia or nerve\/muscle damage resulting in dysarthria. Nervous system injuries and dysfunctions can be the cause of many diseases that eliminate patients from society. Our team of therapists helps our patients restore primary motor and articulation functions. In neurorehabilitation, we use different therapeutic modalities in combination with medical technologies to allow people with disabilities and those in a vegetative state to communicate. Our patients use the C-Eye\u00ae PRO system for communication, study, or writing on a virtual keyboard using eye movement. We provide therapy to patients following surgery, stroke, or spinal cord injury, as well as MS patients or, generally, neurological patients. However, we also treat orthopaedic patients with joint, spine, or muscle pain in our clinic. We also provide speech and communication therapy. Our team uses methods that address the source of health problems and approach the patient individually and holistically.
